Senior AI-First Software Engineer

Seattle, WA (on-site)full-time8+ years

We need a sharp, adaptable engineer who ships AI-powered products. You'll build real systems that go to production, lead technical direction, and mentor others. You should be comfortable not knowing the answer yet and fast at figuring it out.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and own AI-powered products and platforms end to end, from architecture through production operations
  • Work daily inside agentic development environments (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) as a core part of how you write and ship code
  • Build and refine context engineering strategies: prompt design, RAG pipelines, embeddings, evaluation harnesses
  • Architect systems that are clean, observable, and built to evolve: APIs, microservices, event-driven patterns, CI/CD automation
  • Lead technical decisions and mentor junior engineers on AI-first development practices
  • Prototype fast and harden what works, moving from proof-of-concept to resilient system without switching gears
  • Collaborate with a small, senior team where everyone codes, everyone reviews, and everyone owns the outcome

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years of experience building and operating production software (depth matters more than years)
  • You use AI tooling every day to write better code faster, with opinions about when it helps and when it gets in the way
  • Proficient in at least two of: TypeScript/Node, Python, Java; comfortable with React/Next or similar modern frontend frameworks
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containers, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code
  • You've integrated generative AI into production systems, not just demos
  • Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; requirements shift, tools evolve weekly, and that excites you

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), vector databases, or model routing
  • Background in MLOps, AI evaluation, or safety/governance practices
  • Open source contributions or published technical writing
  • Experience building multi-agent systems or autonomous pipelines
  • You've broken something important in production and have a good story about what you learned
